Welcome to the Department of Public Health.
The field of public health is dynamic and growing at a fast pace. COVID-19 pandemic has stressed a vital role for public health in protecting and enhancing nations’ health at the root level. Public health is an arm of medicine that deals with the general health of the population via a holistic approach. This field of medicine collaborates with non-governmental and governmental organizations and entities to protect, prevent and promote holistic health throughout the society. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined Public Health as “the art and science of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through the organized efforts of society.”
The Department of Public Health at The University of Haripur is proud to contribute to these efforts by educating undergraduate and graduate students in the core competencies of public health including biostatistics, epidemiology, clinical nutrition, health communication, environmental health, and reproductive health with a passion to help others through evidence and science-based approaches.
A career in public health is rewarding and fulfilling. Our faculty, students and alumni accept and plan to resolve challenges affecting the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities to contribute in the nation’s health system. They work as educators, researchers, practitioners and policy makers to promote health locally, nationally and globally. We offer a bachelor’s of science in public health (BSPH), Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health (PGDPH) and Masters of Science in Public Health (MSPH).
The mission of our department is to work in partnership with the community to ensure the optimal health and well-being of all people. In addition, we are committed to collaborating with medical service providers, district/tehsil departments, City agencies, community-based organizations, schools, foundations, and religious organizations. Our priority agenda is research and community outreach to achieve our primary goal which is better health through prevention. The current team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members works together in collaboration with each other with a student-centered policy and endeavor to contribute to the broader public health interests within the country and internationally.
I invite you to learn more about us and to contact us for any further questions. I hope we can join hands with you and together we can serve our nation for a better and healthy future.
