Department of Economics

Introduction

The Department of Economics, UOH was established in 2012. Initially, it started its two years M.Sc. degree (four semesters)) program in fall 2012, and has now introduced BS (4 year) programme. It proudly welcomes first time admissions to the 4-years BS-Economics Undergraduate program in the fall semester 2013. BS-Economics covers the whole area of economic issues and enables to build a particularly strong quantitative background, which is becoming more and increasingly more important for a successful career in the fields of finance, government institutions, NGOs, research and academia.

FUNCTIONS

To organize teaching of modern economics and related disciplines at undergraduate and graduate Levels.

To guide research students in the relevant areas and to provide training programmes and consultancy services to public and private organizations.

To promote cooperation with other leading educational and research institutions of the country, in the field of modern economics, Islamic economics and allied disciplines, through seminars, colloquia, conferences, staff and student exchanges, scholarships, stipends and bursaries.
