Introduction

The long term survival, existence and fortitude of an organization or institution depends largely on the level and depth of its strategic planning.  It not only sets the organization’s direction, outlines the long term goals but also determines the ways and means for its accomplishment. Planning guides informed decisions with regards to efficient and effective use of available human, material and financial resources enabling an organization to achieve the desired goals within specified timeframe and defined budget. In absence of comprehensive, realistic, measurable and time bounded planning process, achievement of organization’s goals and objectives remains a distant dream.

The directorate of P&D was established in August, 2013 to ensure constant growth, consistent improvement and sustained development in diverse spheres of academic, research and administrative business of UoH. Its basic objective is to shape up UoH future direction, determine priorities, set realistic and achievable goals/objectives and generate necessary financial resources for its accomplishment. P&D-UoH has the mandate to undertake comprehensive and exhaustive planning process for long term physical, technological, material, financial and human resource development at UoH.

The priority focus of P&D-UoH is to properly plan, timely implement, efficiently manage, regularly monitor and professionally evaluate development projects, programs, policies and strategies. Since its inception till date, the Directorate of P&D-UoH has been instrumental and made significant progress in shaping, developing, upgrading and upscaling the physical and technological infrastructure pertaining to academic, research and administrative aspects of the university.
