University of Haripur in collaboration with Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) organized Three Days Training workshop on Gemstones of Pakistan from 17th to 19th Nov, 2014- ORIC.

An MoU was signed between Earth Science Division of Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) and Department of Geology, University of Haripur on 31st October, 2014.
Soon after this signing PMNH arranged a 3 days training workshop on Gemstones of Pakistan at Islamabad from 17th Nov, to 19th Nov, 2014 in collaboration with University of Haripur.
University of Haripur nominated officially 15 students and two faculty members from department of Geology to participate in this training workshop, butour more students wanted to participate in this workshop so 10 additional students showed willingness to participate in this workshop on self finance bases. In this way 25 students of Geology department participated in this Gemstone Training Workshop.

The inauguration ceremony of this workshop was held on 17th Nov, 2014 at the office of PMNH office Islamabad.  The Chairman PSF, Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto was Chief Guest. Dr. Zahoor, Director ORIC UoH, in his speech highlighted the significance and importance of this training workshop which can earn lot of foreign exchange for the country. More than 70 participants attended this workshop. A group of very experienced professionals of this field conducted this training program.
 Our students were very pleased to attend this workshop. They not only learned about different aspects of Gemstone of Pakistan but also got useful exposure to discuss with many technical persons of this profession. Many Jewelers from Rawalpindi and Islamabad had participated and our students gained a lot by discussion with these professional people.This workshop ended on 19th Nov, 2014.In the closing ceremony certificate were given to all participants.
It was a useful workshop which has increased coordination and cooperation between PMNH and University of Haripur, which will result in more joint research projects between these two organizations in future.
