One DAY SEMINAR ON “LATEST TRENDS IN I.T. INDUSTRY”

Information Technology Department, University of Haripur organized One Day Seminar on Latest Trends in IT Industry on April 17, 2014. The Seminar emerged as a leading forum for IT students and faculty to discuss and present the latest IT trends and results in the field of Information Technology. Besides comprehensive presentation by Dr. NaveedIkram, Associate Dean (Computing) Riphah International University, Rawalpindi, many motivational videos were also a part of the seminar.

During the seminar, Technical Sessions are held and students/faculty are invited to talk on various trends of IT. More than 100 students participated in the Seminar along with IT faculty and staff members. Dr. Naveed said, Easy, highly mobile, and social are the mantras of this new generation of IT and are the rapid acquisition/delivery of business solutions. There is a growing realization amongst workers and management that technology, though increasingly complex in itself, can be wielded far more rapidly and efficiently than their currently parochial capabilities are providing. Following trends are part of detailed discussion in various sessions:

  • Innovation has become a distributed dynamic.
  • Big data remains a huge opportunity.
  • Companies are moving beyond old-style business and IT alignment.
  • Industry-specific business challenges require industry-specific solutions.
  • Industries are morphing.
  • Next-Gen Mobile - Smart Devices and Tablets
  • Social Media - Social Business and Enterprise 2.0

Cloud computing

Consumerization of IT

It is pertinent that businesses are growing in data more than ever before, yet have remarkably little access to it. Similarly, business cycles are growing smaller and smaller thus making it necessary to take the stream of new and prevailing business data and process it rapidly enough to make critical decisions.
The Seminar was concluded after a long question-answer session. Mr. Muhammad Junaid, Head Information Technology Department, University of Haripur thanked the invited speaker for the valuable input and emphasized the quality of research in Information Technology as a backbone in the current and upcoming era. He also delivered vote of thanks at the end. Mr. Sehal Khan, Registrar, University of Haripur emphasized that this forum brings the IT community together and showed commitment to conduct the same cadre seminars (national/international) quite frequently in future.
